The story

A thousand square metres of toys.
Fætter BR — Cousin BR, the boy in the bearskin on the red-and-white sign — has been Denmark’s toy shop since 1963, when Børge Rasmussen turned his kiosk in Roskilde into a shop full of toys. Thirty-one shops across the country today; Køge is next, in brand-new premises, just before Christmas 2026.
The address is Den Hvide By — the White Town, north of the centre: the white buildings of the old Codan rubber works, where galoshes were made from 1908 and close to 2,000 people once worked, now the town’s big-shop quarter between Værftsvej and Københavnsvej. Over a thousand square metres of toys, LEGO included — the right size for a rainy afternoon with children, and for the one adult who still builds. The photograph is the sign, the cousin himself, printed here as the centre of a target.
